IXTAPA - ZIHUATANEJO                                                           

Ixtapa is often referred to as the 'Sister Destination' to the beautiful Zihuatanejo.  You'll find it in Guerrero, which is a state found along the stunning Pacific Coasts of Mexico.  Known as 'two destinations in one' (old & new), it really is a true paradise, and a real hidden gem of the travelling world!  This sea side jewel is much less crowded than Cancun or Acapulco, with world class resort amenities, yet small town Mexico charm.  The local people are very friendly and the destination is beautiful and safe for tourists. 

Around 144 miles north of Acapulco, Zihuatanejo was once a sleepy little fishing village, residents were sparse and the little town was virtually unknown, but as the 1970's got into full swing, it slowly became recognized as the most desired destination of choice when it comes to perfect getaways, and the location soon became a hit among the worlds most beautiful people!

Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa are well loved due to their striking differences as destinations.  Zihuatanejo is brimming with the most traditional Mexican cultures, shops & restaurants, allowing you to immerse yourself fully within the beautiful culture that fills this place.  With the most attractive beaches, this picturesque sea side village is one of a kind.  Alternatively, there's Ixtapa.  Ixtapa is known among tourists and residents as a miniature version of the modern Acapulco!  Here is where a lot of the most stunning hotels, marina, most couture of features and attractions reside, allowing for a truly versatile and different vacation or holiday experience.

One of Zihuatanejo's leading tourist attractions has got to be its calm beautiful protected bay.  They glittery, peaceful warm waters provide homage for those who crave peace and contemplation in a warm place, particularly during the cold winter months back at home.  With a wide variety of postcard-worthy beaches, simple dining attractions and unbelievable scenery surrounding the bay (especially at sun rise and set) it's obvious why tourists flock here for a break away from the stress back home.

Ixtapa has a well known tropical coastline, and many unusual sandy beaches and secluded coves, with temperatures hitting almost 80 degrees all year round, on average, you would have to see it to believe it, as Ixtapa is well known for it's almost all-year round sunshine!  With truly state of the art hotels, clubs and restaurants, it's a perfect place for those who dig the high life!

There's a wide range of things to do within Zihuatanejo & Ixtapa, ventures vary from those most suited to the energetic and adventurous, to a more casual and relaxed approach to vacation activities!  There’s sport fishing along the bays, whether you choose to go it alone, or with some of Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa's most experienced Captains to fish for your dinner!  You can fish for giant yellow-fin tuna, or even the hard-to-catch roosterfish!  You could also give surfing a go, few people are aware that there are actually a wide variety of surf spots in the area, and you can do whatever you’re most comfortable with, from body-boarding for beginners, to full on surfing for experienced wave riders!  Diving and snorkelling sessions are available to everyone who has ever wondered what lurks beneath the waters, and you might love what you find.  These pacific waters are home to a variety of marine sea-creatures, such as Sea Horses, Manta Rays and Dolphins; and those of you who are extremely lucky might also encounter different species of whales and sharks!

Zihuatanejo & Ixtapa also has some great entertainment available for all the night owls out there!  From bars and discos, to cinemas and night tours, you'll find yourself with something different to do every night of the week.  Tours can include boat-tours around the coastline at night, to see the beautiful waters in a nigh time setting, as well as many local tours in and around the whole of Zihuatanejo & Ixtapa, including highly popular jungle tours, allowing you to see sites you've seen on the television so many times before, close up!

If you're interested in visiting Zihuatanejo & Ixtapa, one of the best ways to get there would be by direct flight from most major international airports.  The International Zihuatanejo & Ixtapa Airport is only a 15 minute car journey from town, and there are almost always at least some direct flights from the USA and Canada, even more so during the tourist season.  This time is usually between Fall and Spring.  Once in town, taxis and buses are one of the most popular ways to get around.  Check in with an official airport counter for taxi and bus information.  Driving a car in Zihuatanejo & Ixtapa is not necessary and not advised.  Zihuatanejo & Ixtapa are safe with plenty to do, and taxi fare is not expensive to go between the two towns or the airport.  If you love beautiful scenery, buzzing nightlife, and real culture, then a vacation to Zihuatanejo & Ixtapa would definitely be a great choice for you.  There is something for everyone in these stunning destinations, so don't miss out on a trip of a lifetime!
