The drive from Tampa to Marco Island can be made in around 2.5 hours. Fresh sea shells wash up onto the beaches in Marco Island each morning, making it a great place to stroll. It’s hard to resist looking for that perfect sea shell. Popular beaches include Keewaydin Island Beach, South Marco Beach, and Tigertail Beach. Fishing is a popular activity here. There are many charter companies to take you out to good fishing spots. You’ll discover plenty of wildlife around Marco Island like seabirds, alligators, manetee and bottle nose dolphins. There are plenty of Eco Tours, Kayaking, boating and Jet Ski tours available to view the abundant wildlife in the area. Many of these tours visit Ten Thousand Islands, a popular chain of islands and mangrove islets. Everglades National Park is a little over an hour drive from Marco Island. From Marco Island (and Ft. Myers) you can take a ferry to Key West. The travel time is 3-hours from Marco Island to Key West (add half hour from Ft. Myers).
